Geo Fence Job (Windows)
Geo-fencing, allows you to create virtual geographic boundaries and enables you to monitor and manage Windows devices based on their location. When the user enters or exits the defined geographical fence, you have the option to set up jobs that will be applied to the devices.
Prerequisites
- GPS capability on the device
Follow the below steps to create and configure the Geo Fence job:
Login to the SureMDM Console.
Navigate to Jobs > New Job > Windows.
Select Geo Fence.
Select Enable Geo Fencing.
In the Geo Fence screen, click Select Fence and type the location in the Search box.
Click Draw a Circle (located on the right of the map) icon.
Click and drag the circle to the desired location on the map.
Once the location is marked, a prompt appears with Radius, Lat and Long details.
Enter the Geofence Name and click Save.
Admins can also use the Download Template and Import option to add the fence.
The newly created fence will be listed in the table.
Select the Fence Entered tab, and click Add to select the job(s) that will be activated on the device when it enters the fenced area.
On the Select Jobs to Add screen, select the jobs from the list using the Ctrl key and click OK.
You can delay the Fence Entered/Exited action by using the Delay option.
- Choose the desired Alert Type from the following options, indicating who should be notified when the device enters the fence:
- Device - Device User
- MDM - SureMDM admin
- Email - Recipient email address
Click Save.
Navigate to the Fence Exited tab and repeat steps 10 to 12 to configure the settings when the device exits the fence.
The newly created job will be listed in the Jobs List section.
Go back to the Home tab and select the Windows device(s) or group(s).
Click Apply to launch the Apply Job/Profile To Device prompt.
Select the job under All Jobs/Profiles.
Click Apply in the Apply/Profile To Device prompt.
