Configure Web Content Filter

The Web Content Filter is an integrated feature designed to facilitate web filtering on supervised macOS devices. This feature empowers administrators to control web access based on specific criteria. The Web Content Filter encompasses the following options:

When you enter URLs, start the URL with https:// or http:// . If necessary, add separate entries for https:// and http:// versions of the same URL. If an allowed or denied URL redirects to another URL, the redirected URL must be added as well.

Blocklisted URLs

Block specific URLs from being accessed on enrolled macOS devices.

To blocklist the URLs on enrolled macOS devices, follow these steps:

1. Navigate to SureMDM Web Console > Profiles >macOS > Add > Web Content Filter > Blocklist URLs Configure > Add.

2. In the Blocklisted URL prompt, enter the URL to be blocked and click Add.

     The blocklisted URL will be listed under the Blocklisted URLs section.

3. Enter a Profile Name and click Save.       

The newly created profile will be listed in the Profiles section.

4. Go back to the Home tab and select the macOS device(s) or group(s).

5. Click Apply to launch Apply Job/Profile To Device prompt.

6. In the Apply Job/Profile To Device prompt, select the created profile and click Apply.

Allowlisted Bookmarks

Allows access to the selected bookmarks on the enrolled macOS devices.

To allow access to the bookmarks on enrolled devices, follow these steps:

1. Navigate to SureMDM Web Console > Profiles > macOS > Add > Web Content Filter > Allowliste URLs Configure > Add.

2. In the Allowlist Bookmark prompt, enter the URL to be allowed and click Add.

The bookmark that is allowed to be accessed will be listed in Allowlisted Bookmarks.

3. Enter a Profile Name and click Save.

     The newly created profile will be listed in the Profiles section.

4. Go back to Home tab and select the macOS device(s) or group(s).

5. Click Apply to launch Apply Job/Profile To Device prompt.

6. In the Apply Job/Profile To Device prompt, select the created profile and click Apply.
