Disk Management

The Disk Management payload allows IT administrators to configure the disk management settings for users of a Mac that enrolled via device management. These settings help to configure mount policies for external storage and network storage on macOS devices using Declarative Device Management (DDM).

  • This profile is available only for Device Enrollment
  • Supported OS Version: macOS 15.0 or later

Steps to Configure Disk Management Profile

  1. On the SureMDM Web Console, navigate to Profiles > macOS > Add > Device Enrollment > Disk Management > Configure

  2. Enter a Profile Name.

  3. In the Configure Disk Management screen, configure the required options.

External Storage Access ControlSpecify the External Storage Access Control action.
Not Configured
SureMDM does not alter this setting when set to ‘Not Configured’.
Allow
The system can mount external storage that is read-write or read-only.
Read Only
The system can only mount external storage in read-only mode. Note that read-write external storage will not be mounted as read-only.
Restrict
The system cannot mount any external storage.
Network Storage Access ControlSpecify the Network Storage Access Control action.
Not Configured
SureMDM does not alter this setting when set to ‘Not Configured’
.
Allow
The system can mount network storage that is read-write or read-only.
Read Only
The system can only mount network storage in read-only mode. Note that read-write external storage will not be mounted as read-only.
Restrict
The system cannot mount any network storage.

  1. Click Save.

  2. The newly created profile will be listed in the Profiles section.

  3. Go back to the Home tab and select the macOS device(s) or group(s).

  4. Click Apply to launch Apply Job/Profile To Device prompt.

  5. In the Apply Job/Profile To Device prompt, select the created profile and click Apply.
