Configure Allowed/Blocked Applications

Admins can allow or deny access to certain applications on the enrolled device.

Configure Blocklisting of Apps

Disables desired applications from functioning on macOS devices, and app icon will not be visible on the screen for launching.   

To disable desired applications remotely on the enrolled devices, follow these steps:

1. Navigate to SureMDM Web Console > Profiles > macOS > Add > Allowed/Blocked Applications > Blocklist Apps Configure > Add.

2. In the Blocklist Application prompt, enter a Name for the application and Path To Application and click Add.

      The selected app will be listed under the Blocklist Apps section.

Follow the below steps to find the application path:

  • Click Finder icon in the Dock to open a Finder window.
  • Choose View > Show Path Bar, or press the Option key to show the application path.

3. Enter a Profile Name and click Save.

       The newly created profile will be listed in the Profiles section.

4. Go back to Home tab and select the macOS device(s) or group(s).

5. Click Apply to launch Apply Job/Profile To Device prompt.

6. In the Apply Job/Profile To Device prompt, select the created profile and click Apply

Configure Allowlisting of Apps

Allows only desired apps to function on macOS devices and restricts all other apps.

To allow only desired applications remotely on the enrolled devices, follow these steps:

1. Navigate to SureMDM Web Console > Profiles > macOS > Add > Allowed/Blocked Applications > Allowlist Apps Configure > Add.

2. In the Allowlist Application prompt, enter Name, Path To Application (path of the application) and click Add.

      The selected app will be listed under Allowlist Apps section.

  • Choose View > Show Path Bar, or press the Option key to show the application path.

3. Enter a Profile Name and click Save.

      The newly created profile will be listed in the Profiles section.

4. Go back to Home tab and select the macOS device(s) or group(s).

5. Click Apply to launch Apply Job/Profile To Device prompt.

6. In the Apply Job/Profile To Device prompt, select the created profile and click Apply.
