Migration using CMT for Windows
Migrate PCs from legacy CMT environment to SureMDM Web Console by syncing groups and group policies from Active Directory using 42Gears’s CMT Tool application.
Following steps are involved in migrating legacy PCs to SureMDM Web Console:
- Create policies in AD Server
- Sync created policies in SureMDM Web Console
- Set up SAML Authentication
- Enroll Windows devices using EMM Windows
Create Policies in AD Server
Admins will have to create groups and group policies for the users in AD Server.
Setup SAML Authentication
Configure SAML type authentication in SureMDM Web Console.
Sync Policies in SureMDM Web Console
The policies created in AD server will have to be synced with SureMDM Console with the help of CMTTool application.
To sync policies in SureMDM Web Console, follow these steps:
1. Install CMTTool in the Active Directory server and run CMTTool.exe.
Contact sales@42gears.com to get the latest version of CMTTool application.
2. Enter MDM URL, API Token, MDM User Name, MDM Password and press Enter.
The number of groups, users and policies in the AD server will be displayed.
3. Enter the policies to sync. (Numeric values only. For example :0,1)
4. Type Y to confirm syncing.
All the user details from AD server will be synced and gets listed under Preapproved section of SureMDM Web Console.
Enroll devices using Windows EMM
To enroll windows devices using Windows EMM, click here.
While enrolling Windows device to the console, use the same user’s email address created in the AD server.
The policies and groups created in AD server will be synced and gets listed under Tags and Profiles > Windows sections as other profiles in SureMDM Web Console. These profiles can be applied to all Windows device(s) or a group.
