Setup Mail Configuration Profile

The Mail Configuration Profile is a powerful tool that enables administrators to remotely set up and configure email accounts on macOS devices. This capability is especially useful in enterprise environments where standardized email configurations need to be applied uniformly to multiple devices.

Applicable for both Device and User Enrollment types on User Profiles.

Currently, this feature supports setting configuration for POP or IMAP email accounts.

To configure an email account remotely on the enrolled device, follow these steps:

  1. Navigate to SureMDM Web Console > Profiles > macOS > Add > Device / User Enrollment > Mail Configuration > Configure.

  2. Enter a Profile Name and click Add.

  3. Configure Mail Configuration settings in the Configure Mail popup and click Add.

Account DescriptionEnter the description of the email account.
Account TypeSelect POP3 /IMAP.
User Display NameEnter the Display Name (Optional).
Email AddressEnter the address of the email account.
Incoming Mail 
Mail Server and PortEnter the mail server and number of the port assigned to the incoming mail traffic.
UsernameEnter the username for the email account.
Authentication TypeSelect None/Password for the incoming mail. 
Use SSLSelect to receive all communications through the Secure Socket Layer.
Outgoing Mail 
Mail Server and PortEnter the mail server and number of the port assigned to the outgoing mail traffic.
UsernameEnter the username for the email account
Authentication TypeSelect None/Password for the outgoing mail.
Use SSLSelect to send all communications through the Secure Socket Layer.

The added configuration will reflect in the table section.

  1. Click Save.

    The newly created profile will be listed in the Profiles section.

  2. Go back to the Home tab and select the macOS device(s) or group(s).

  3. Click Apply to launch the Apply Job/Profile To Device prompt.

  4. In the Apply Job/Profile To Device prompt, select the created profile and click Apply.
