Setup Mail Configuration Profile

The Mail Configuration Profile provides administrators with a convenient and efficient means to remotely configure email accounts on enrolled devices. 

Applicable on both Device and User Enrollment types.

note

Currently, this feature supports setting configuration for POP or IMAP email accounts.

To configure an email account remotely on the enrolled device, follow these steps:

1. Navigate to SureMDM Web Console > Profiles > iOS/iPadOS > Add > Mail Configuration > Configure.

2. Enter a Profile Name and click Add.

3. Configure the following Mail Configuration settings and click Add.

SettingsDescription
Account DescriptionEnter the account description.
Account TypeSelect POP3 /IMAP.
User Display NameEnter the Display Name (Optional).
Email AddressEnter the address of the email account.
Allow User To Move Message From This AccountAllow users to move the message from this account to another.
Allow Recent Addresses To Be SyncedAllow users to sync this account in recent address syncing.
Use Only In MailAllow users to send outgoing mail from this account using Mail app.
Enable Per Account VPN
Enable VPN connection for the mail account.

Note: The device must have the following criteria for the setting to work:

1. iOS 14 or later.

2. VPN connection to be configured with OpenVPN connection type.

Incoming Mail
Mail Server and PortEnter the mail server and the number of the port assigned to the incoming mail traffic.
UsernameEnter a username for the email account.
Authentication TypeSelect None/Password for the incoming mail.
Use SSLSelect to receive all communications through the Secure Socket Layer.
Outgoing Mail
Mail Server and PortEnter the mail server and the number of the port assigned to the outgoing mail traffic.
UsernameEnter a username for the email account
Authentication TypeSelect None/Password for the outgoing mail.
Use SSLSelect to send all communications through the Secure Socket Layer.

The added configuration will reflect in the table section.

  1. Click Save. The newly created profile will be listed in the Profiles section.

  2. Go back to the Home tab and select the iOS/iPadOS device(s) or group(s).

  3. Click Apply to launch the Apply Job/Profile To Device prompt.

  4. Select the profile under All Jobs/Profiles.

  5. Click Apply in the Apply/Profile To Device prompt.
