Custom ADMX

The Custom ADMX feature in SureMDM allows IT administrators to configure and apply custom administrative templates (ADMX) to managed Windows devices. Custom ADMX enables administrators to import their own ADMX and ADML files, providing a way to configure applications or settings with custom administrative templates. These templates can then be applied to devices as part of a Windows profile.

Steps to Import ADMX and ADML Files

To use the Custom ADMX feature, administrators need to first import the ADMX and ADML files.

Steps to Import Files:

  1. Log in to the SureMDM console.
  2. Navigate to Account Settings.
  3. Select Windows Management under Account Settings.
  4. Go to the Miscellaneous section and click Custom ADMX.
  5. Browse and upload the required ADMX and ADML files for the custom app.
  6. Click Upload to begin the import process.

Note:

  • The uploaded files will be processed within a few minutes.
  • Once processing is complete, the imported ADMX file will be available for selection in the Custom ADMX payload.
  • The maximum number of ADMX templates allowed for import is limited to 5.

Configuring the Custom ADMX Payload

After importing the ADMX and ADML files, you can configure the custom administrative template settings in a Windows profile.

Steps to Configure the Payload:

  1. Go to the SureMDM console and navigate to Profiles.
  2. Select Windows and click on Add.
  3. In the profile configuration page, select Custom ADMX from the list of available payloads.
  4. Click Add, and from the dropdown, choose the imported ADMX file.
  5. Click on Configure and configure the settings provided by the selected ADMX file based on your requirements.
  6. Save the profile.

The newly created profile will be listed in the Profiles section.

  1. Go back to the Home tab and select the Windows device(s) or group(s).
  2. Click Apply to launch the Apply Job/Profile To Device prompt.
  3. Select the profile under All Jobs/Profiles.
  4. Click Apply in the Apply/Profile To Device prompt.
note
  • Ensure the ADMX and ADML files being uploaded are valid and compatible with the devices/apps being managed.
  • Imported ADMX files supported are specific to the applications only. Verify the ADMX documentation provided by the app vendor to correctly configure the settings.
  • Any new releases to the ADMX settings will require re-uploading updated ADMX and ADML files and reapplying the profile to the devices.
  • To ensure immediate effect when deploying Custom ADMX, it is essential that the required apps are installed on the device.
