Zebra Link-OS Printer Enrollment (via Network Printer Discovery)

42Gears has collaborated with Zebra Technologies to simplify printer management through SureMDM. SureMDM enables administrators to remotely manage and configure Zebra Link-OS printers. The Printer Enrollment Tool supports network printer discovery, allowing administrators to discover available printers, select the required devices, and enroll them into SureMDM without manually entering IP addresses.

Enroll Zebra Link-OS Printer to SureMDM using the Network Printer Discovery

To enroll Zebra Link-OS printers to the SureMDM Console using Network Printer Discovery, follow these steps:

Prerequisites

• Enable Things Gateway in the SureMDM Console.
• Ensure the host machine can access the network where the Zebra printers are available.
• Install the Zebra Printer Enrollment Tool on the host machine, if it is not already installed.

Steps

1. Log in to the SureMDM Console.
2. Navigate to Enrollment > Manual Enrollment, expand the Things section, and select the Zebra Printer.
3. Expand the Network Printer Discovery accordion.
4. Enter one or more ZPL commands (Optional) in the Add ZPL Commands field, with each command on a separate line. These commands are automatically executed after printer enrollment.
5. Click Discover Printers to launch the Printer Enrollment Tool.
6. In the Discover Printers tab, click Discover to scan the current network for available Zebra printers.
7. Review the discovered printers in the table. The following details are displayed:
   • Printer Name
   • Serial Number
   • Model
   • Firmware Version
   • IP Address
8. Select one or more printers to enroll and click Add Printer.
9. In the IP Type pop-uppopup, select the required IP address type:
   • Dynamic – An IP address assigned to the printer by a DHCP server.
   • Static – A fixed IP address assigned to the printer.
10. Click Proceed to initiate the enrollment process.
11. Navigate to the Enrollment Activity tab to monitor the enrollment status of the selected printers. The table displays the status, timestamp, IP address, and logs for each enrollment attempt.
12. Verify that the selected printers are successfully enrolled and available for management in the SureMDM Console.
