Device Actions

Device Actions includes essential device management actions such as Reboot, Sleep, Lock Device, Wipe Device, and Shut Down.

Steps to Create a Device Actions Job

To create a Device Actions job and deploy it to the enrolled device(s) or group(s) remotely, follow these steps:

  1. Navigate to SureMDM Web Console > Jobs > New Job > macOS > Device Actions.

  2. In the Device Actions prompt, enter a Job Name and select the Action Type.

Action Types and Descriptions

Action TypeDescription
Reboot
Performs a reboot on the device.
If a reboot needs to be triggered immediately after the job deployment, select the Immediate Reboot option. Alternatively, it can be configured to initiate the reboot after specified duration.
Note: Device Reboot is supported on macOS 10.13 and above.
Sleep
Puts the device to sleep.
If a sleep needs to be triggered immediately after the job deployment, select the Immediate Sleep option. Alternatively, it can be configured to initiate the sleep after specified duration.
Note:
- Device Sleep is supported on macOS 10.13 and above.
- Agent support for Device Sleep is available from macOS Agent 5.8.0 and above.
Lock Device
Performs screen lock on the device.
System Lock PIN must be configured which will be enforced on the device.
Note:
- Remember this PIN as SureMDM does not store it, and it cannot be bypassed if forgotten.
- This action will reboot the system.
Wipe Device
Erases the device, including locked ones, without warning the user.
Device Wipe Action: Select the required wipe action:
- Partial Wipe: Removes all managed apps, data, and profiles. Any apps installed through SureMDM will also be removed.
- Full Wipe: Completely wipes the device, including the OS. All personal files, photos, music, movies, and managed apps, data, and profiles will be permanently erased.
- Override Recovery PIN (6-digit) [If Full Wipe is selected]: A 6-digit Recovery PIN is required to reinstall the operating system on the device.
Shut Down
Performs shut down on the device.
If a shut down needs to be triggered immediately after the job deployment, select the Immediate Shut Down option. Alternatively, it can be configured to initiate the shut down after specified duration.
Note: Device Shut Down is supported on macOS 10.13 and above.
  1. The newly created job will be listed in the Jobs List section.

  2. Go back to the Home tab and select the macOS device(s) or group(s).

  3. Click Apply to launch the Apply Job/Profile To Device prompt.

  4. In the Apply Job/Profile To Device prompt, select the job and click Apply.
