Geo Fence (Android)

The Geo Fence option creates a virtual fence around a geographical location. Admins can configure jobs to be deployed on the devices when the user enters or exits this geographical fence.

note

  1. Geo Fence requires GPS capability on the device.

  2. This feature will only function if the Location permission is enabled on the device.

To create a Geo Fence job and deploy it to the enrolled device(s) or group(s) remotely, follow these steps:

  1. On the SureMDM Web Console, navigate to Jobs > New Job > Android > Geo Fence.

  2. Select Enable Geo Fencing.

  3. In the Geo Fence screen, Select Fence and type the location in the Search box.

  4. Select the type of fence to draw from the floating options on the right side of the map:

  • Draw Circle: Click and drag the circle to the desired location on the map. Once the location is marked, a prompt will appear with the Radius, Latitude, and Longitude details.

  • Draw Shape: Create a polygon by placing points at the desired locations on the map to indicate the corners of the shape. Once the location is marked, a prompt will appear with the Area and Tracking periodicity details.

  1. Click and drag the circle at the desired location on the map. Once the location is marked, a prompt appears with Radius, Lat and Lng details.

  2. Enter the Geofence Name and click Save.

     The newly created fence will be listed in the table.

  1. Select the Fence Entered tab, click Add to select the job(s) that will be activated on the device when it enters the fenced area .You can apply this job to all the fences or to any selected fences in the list. In the Select Fences dropdown list, you can either select ALL or select any specific fences from the list.

  1. In the Select Jobs to Add screen, select the jobs from the list using Ctrl key and click OK. 

  2. Select a user from the following options, who will receive an alert when the device enters the fenced area: 

       Device -  Device user (Mailbox Section)

       MDM - SureMDM admin (Inbox section)

       Email - Recipient of the configured email address

  1. Click Save.

  2. Select Fence Exited tab and repeat steps 5 to 8 to configure the settings when the device exits the fenced area.

       The newly created job will be listed in the Jobs List section. 

11. Go back to the Home tab and select the Android device(s) or group(s).

12. Click Apply to launch the Apply Job/Profile To Device prompt .

13. In the Apply Job/Profile To Device prompt, select the job and click Apply.
