Configure Web Content Filter Profile

The Web Content Filter stands as an integrated tool designed to assist in web filtering for supervised iOS devices. Within the Web Content Filter, users have access to a range of options that grant them the ability to tailor their web content filtering settings according to their needs and preferences.

Blocklisted URLs​

Block specific URLs from being accessed on enrolled iOS devices.

To blocklist the URLs on enrolled iOS devices, follow these steps:

  1. Navigate to SureMDM Web Console > Profiles > iOS/iPadOS > Add > Web Content Filter > Configure > Blocklisted URLs > Add.

  2. In the Blocklisted URL prompt, enter the URL to be blocked and click Add.

    The blocklisted URL will be listed under Blocklisted URLs section.

  3. Enter a Profile Name and click **Save.

    The newly created profile will be listed in the Profiles section

  4. Go back to the Home tab and select the iOS/iPadOS device(s) or group(s).

  5. Click Apply to launch the Apply Job/Profile To Device prompt.

  6. Select the profile under All Jobs/Profiles.

  7. Click Apply in the Apply/Profile To Device prompt.

Allowlisted Bookmarks​

Allows access to the selected bookmarks on the enrolled iOS devices.

To allow access to the bookmarks on enrolled devices, follow these steps:

  1. Navigate to SureMDM Web Console > Profiles > iOS/iPadOS > Add > Web Content Filter > Configure > Allowlisted Bookmarks > Add.

  2. n the Allowlist Bookmark prompt, enter the following details and click Add.

  • Title – Name

  • URL – URL of the bookmark

  • Bookmark Path – Path of the bookmark

    The bookmark that is allowed to access will be listed in Allowlisted Bookmarks.

  1. Enter a Profile Name and click Save.

    The newly created profile will be listed in the Profiles section .

  2. Go back to the Home tab and select the iOS/iPadOS device(s) or group(s).

  3. Click Apply to launch the Apply Job/Profile To Device prompt.

  4. Select the profile under All Jobs/Profiles.

  5. Click Apply in the Apply/Profile To Device prompt.

Auto Filter​

Automatically blocks all web pages with adult content or allows browsing of only selected URLs.

To Auto Filter web contents on enrolled devices, follow these steps:

  1. Navigate to SureMDM Web Console > Profiles > iOS/iPadOS > Add > Web Content Filter > Configure > Auto Filter.

  2. Under the Auto Filter section, select Enable Auto Filtering to block all webpages with adult content and then click Add.

  3. In the Filtered URL prompt, enter the URL to be allowed for accessing and click Add.

    The URL to be allowed for access will be listed in Auto Filter section. 

  4. Enter a Profile Name and click Save.

    The newly created profile will be listed in the Profiles section.

  5. Go back to the Home tab and select the iOS/iPadOS device(s) or group(s).

  6. Click Apply to launch the Apply Job/Profile To Device prompt.

  7. Select the profile under All Jobs/Profiles.

  8. Click Apply in the Apply/Profile To Device prompt.

To blocklist/ allowlist / auto filter multiple URLs, follow these steps:

  1. Navigate to Profiles > iOS > Add > Web Content Filter > select Blocklisted URLs/ Allowlisted Bookmarks /Auto Filter and click Template. *

    A blank CSV file will download.

  2. Enter the URLs to be blocked/allowed/auto filtered and save the file in a specific location.

  3. Click Import and browse the created CSV file from the saved location and click OK.

The URLs added to the CSV file will get imported and listed under Blocklisted URLs / Allowlisted Bookmarks / Auto Filter section.
