OS Update (Android)

The OS Update Job helps the admin remotely initiate and manage OS version upgrades on enrolled Android device(s), ensuring seamless and consistent updates across the fleet.

To create a OS Update job and deploy it to the enrolled device(s) or group(s) remotely, follow these steps:

1. On the SureMDM Web Console, navigate to Jobs > New Job > Android > OS Update.  

2. Configure the OS Update and click Ok.

Job Name Enter a name for the Job
OS Update File URLA Uri of the file that contains the update. Before uploading the ‘Update file URL’, ensure that the firmware package is bootable via Android Debug Bridge (ADB) sideload to avoid bricking the device.
File HashThe file hash of the OS update file. File hash is the output of a hashing algorithm used as a checksum to verify data integrity.

  • To prevent the device from being bricked, make sure that the firmware package can be booted through the Android Debug Bridge (ADB) sideload.
  • It is recommended to apply the job when the device is connected to the Wi-Fi network.
  • If you wish to apply in a cellular connection, please note that downloading data over a cellular mobile network (including when in a roaming environment), may incur additional charges by the network provider.
  • Supported from SureMDM Agent version >=27.48.00 on Fully Managed and Work Profile on Corporate Owned device enrollment on Android version 10 and above.

 The newly created job will be listed in the Jobs List section. 

3.  Go back to the Home tab and select the Android device(s) or group(s).

4.  Click Apply to launch the Apply Job/Profile To Device prompt.

5.  In the Apply Job/Profile To Device prompt, select the job(s) and click Apply.
