Zebra Printer Jobs
The following are the jobs supported by the Zebra Printers:
ZPL Configuration
ZPL Configuration Job allows admins to send the ZPL (Zebra Programming Language) command remotely to the Zebra Printers. This job can send only one ZPL command to the device at a time.
To send ZPL command, follow these steps:
Log in to the SureMDM Console.
Select Zebra Printer and navigate to the Dynamic Job section.
Select the ZPL Configuration Job.
On the Send ZPL Commands prompt, enter the ZPL Data.
Once done, click Apply or Save As Job.
Apply - By clicking this option, the job will be applied to the selected device without saving it.
Save As Job - By clicking this option, the admin can save the job by adding a Job Name. The job will be saved under the Static Jobs section. Admins can apply this job to multiple devices.
ZPL File Configuration
ZPL File Configuration Job allows admins to send multiple ZPL commands remotely to the Zebra Printers. Admins can create a file with a set of commands and send it to the Zebra printer.
To create and send ZPL file, follow these steps:
Log in to the SureMDM Console.
Select Zebra Printer and navigate to the Dynamic Job section.
Select the ZPL Configuration Job.
On the Send ZPL Commands prompt, enter the ZPL File Path/URL.
Once done, click Apply or Save As Job.
Apply - By clicking this option, the job will be applied to the selected device without saving it.
Save As Job - By clicking this option, the admin can save the job by adding a Job Name. The job will be saved under the Static Jobs section. Admins can apply this job to multiple devices.
Transfer File
Transfer File Job admins can create and send the configuration files remotely to the Zebra Printer.
To transfer files, follow these steps:
Log in to the SureMDM Console.
Select Zebra Printer and navigate to the Dynamic Job section.
Select the File Transfer Job.
On the Transfer Files to Printer prompt, enter the File Path/URL.
Once done, click Apply or Save As Job.
Apply - By clicking this option, the job will be applied to the selected device without saving it.
Save As Job - By clicking this option, the admin can save the job by adding a Job Name. The job will be saved under the Static Jobs section. Admins can apply this job to multiple devices.
Upgrade Firmware
Upgrade Firmware Job allows admins to push the latest firmware remotely to the Zebra Printer.
To push the firmware remotely, follow these steps:
Log in to the SureMDM Console.
Select the Zebra Printer and navigate to the Dynamic Job section.
Select the Upgrade Firmware Job.
On Firmware Update prompt, enter the firmware update URL or upload the zip file.
Once done, click Apply or Save As Job.
Apply - By clicking this option, the job will be applied to the selected device without saving it.
Save As Job - By clicking this option, the admin can save the job by adding a Job Name. The job will be saved under the Static Jobs section. Admins can apply this job to multiple devices.
Wi-Fi Certificate
Wi-Fi Certificate Job enables administrators to deploy Static and Custom CA Server certificates including the SCEP certificates to Zebra Printers over a wireless network.
To deploy the Wi-Fi Certificate, follow these steps:
Log in to the SureMDM Console.
Select the Zebra Printer and navigate to the Dynamic Job section.
Select the Wi-Fi Certificate Job.
In the Wi-Fi Certificate popup, select the Certificate type from the following options in the dropdown: EAP-TLS, EAP-TTLS and PEAP.
Based on the Certificate type selected, Static Certificate or Custom CA Server Certificate can be added.
- If EAP-TLS is selected, Static certificates like Root Certificate File, Client Certificate File and Client Private Key File can be added or Custom CA Server Certificate can be added by enabling the Retrieve CA from Server option.
- If EAP-TTLS or PEAP is selected, Static certificates like Root Certificate File can be added.
- To add the Custom CA Server Certificate, Select EAP-TLS and Enable the Retrieve CA from Server option. By default, SCEP will be displayed as the Certificate Management Method.
In case you are deploying the SCEP Certificate, make sure the following additional prerequisites are met:
a. The ADP SCEP machine must be on.
b. The AD Connector must be mapped to the appropriate console. Refer to the link for details.
c. In SureMDM Account settings, Certificate Management must be mapped to SCEP with the appropriate credentials. Refer to the link for details.
d. AD Integration must be enabled in SureMDM Account settings under Enterprise Integrations. Refer to the link for details
If you want to override account-wide Certificate Management settings, Enable the checkbox for Override CA Certificate and Upload the Root Certificate File saved in your local machine.
Select the Connection type as either Cloud Connector or On-Premise Connector from the dropdown.
Enter the CA Server Address and the Certificate Template name.
Set the Certificate Renewal Period to days/weeks/months/years
Select the Common Name Wildcard from the dropdown of options such as MAC Address, Device ID, Serial Number and Custom wildcards/values.
Select the Subject Alternate Name Wildcard from the dropdown of options such as MAC Address, Device ID, Serial Number and Custom wildcards/values.
Select the Challenge Type as None or Static or Dynamic.
- If Static is selected, enter the Challenge Password.
- If Dynamic is selected, enter the Challenge URL, User Name and Password.
- Click Apply or Save As Job.
- Apply - By clicking this option, the job will be applied to the selected device without saving it.
- Save As Job - By clicking this option, the admin can save the job by adding a Job Name. The job will be saved under the Static Jobs section. Admins can apply this job to multiple devices.
Wi-Fi Configuration
Wi-Fi Configuration job enables administrators to configure the required Wi-Fi on the Zebra Printers to deploy the certificate.
To configure the required Wi-Fi, follow these steps:
Log in to the SureMDM Console.
Select the Zebra Printer and navigate to the Dynamic Job section.
Select the Wi-Fi Configuration Job.
In the Wi-Fi Configuration pop up, select the Wireless LAN Security Type from the following options: WPA EAP-TLS, WPA EAP-TTLS, WPA PEAP, EAP-TLS, EAP-TTLS and PEAP.
Select the Identity from the dropdown of options such as MAC Address, Device ID, Serial Number and Custom Values and also enter the SSID name.
Click Apply or Save As Job.
Apply - By clicking this option, the job will be applied to the selected device without saving it.
Save As Job - By clicking this option, the admin can save the job by adding a Job Name. The job will be saved under the Static Jobs section. Admins can apply this job to multiple devices.
Both the Wi-Fi Certificate and Wi-Fi Configuration jobs have to be applied one after the other on the Zebra printer to configure SCEP Certificate.
