Platform SSO - Microsoft Entra

Platform SSO is a macOS capability that integrates local Mac sign-in with Microsoft Entra ID and enables single sign-on to supported organizational applications and websites. Depending on the selected authentication method, it can use a Secure Enclave-backed key, a smart card, or the user's Microsoft Entra password.

SureMDM provides two configuration areas for setting up this integration:

  • Extensible SSO Configuration: Configures the Microsoft Enterprise SSO plug-in, including its extension identifier, Team Identifier, authentication type, and associated URLs.
  • Platform SSO Configuration: Enables Platform SSO and defines the authentication method and user registration behavior.

Both configurations are important to the overall setup. The Extensible SSO configuration uses Microsoft's Company Portal SSO extension, while the Platform SSO configuration controls how users register and authenticate with Microsoft Entra ID.
