Password Policy
Password Policy allows admins to configure device lock policies on the enrolled devices.
Note: You can configure the password policy profile
To enforce the password policy on the enrolled device(s), follow these steps:
1. Navigate to SureMDM Web Console > Profiles > Linux > Add > Password Policy > Configure.
2. Enter a Profile Name.
3. Configure required Password Policy settings and click Save.
Settings | Description |
---|---|
Minimum Password Length | Enter a value (in number) that specifies the minimum number of characters allowed for a password. |
Maximum Password Age (In Days) | Enter a value (in days). After the specified days, the password has to be changed. |
Minimum Password Age (in Days) | Enter a value (in days) that specifies the minimum number of days between password changes. |
Password Expiration Warning (in Days) | Enter a value (in days). After the specified days, a warning will appear about the password's expiration. |
Password History | Enter a value (in number) that specifies the number of times a password must be changed before the old password can be reused. |
Maximum Repeated Characters | Enter a value (in number) that specifies the maximum number of times a character can be repeated. |
Require Uppercase Character | Select this option to ensure the password contains at least one uppercase character. |
Require Lowercase Character | Select this option to ensure the password contains at least one lowercase character. |
Require Numeric Character | Select this option to ensure the password contains at least one number. |
Require Special Character | Select this option to ensure the password contains at least one special character. |
Restrict Username in Password | Select this option to reject passwords containing a username. |
Requires users to set new password on next login | Select this option to force the user to set a new password on the next login. |
Maximum Inactivity Time To Device Lock (In Minutes) | Select a value (in minutes) that specifies the period of inactivity before the device’s screen locks automatically. Note: This feature will be supported on the devices running SureMDM Agent version 3.13 or later. |
Maximum Number Of Failed Attempts | Select a value from the dropdown that specifies a maximum number of failed attempts before a device gets locked. Note: This feature will be supported on the devices running SureMDM Agent version 3.13 or later. |
Lockout period after maximum login failures | Select a value from the dropdown that specifies the device lockout period after the maximum number of failed attempts. Note: 1. This feature will be supported on the devices running SureMDM Agent version 3.13 or later. 2. This option will be enabled only when you select Maximum Number of Failed Attempts. |
9. Click Save.
The newly created job will be listed in the Jobs List section.
10. Go back to the Home tab and select Linux device(s) or group(s).
11. Click Apply to launch the Apply Job/Profile To Device prompt.
12. In the Apply Job/Profile To Device prompt, select the job and click Apply.
