Schedule OS Update Job
The Schedule OS Update job allows administrators to remotely install the most recent operating system version on the enrolled device(s). This functionality streamlines the process of keeping devices up to date with the latest features, security patches, and improvements.
Follow the below steps to create a Schedule OS Update Job:
On the SureMDM Web Console, navigate to Jobs > New Job > iOS/iPadOS > Schedule OS Update.
Configure the following Schedule OS Update settings and click OK.

| Job Name | Enter a name for the Job. |
| Select Deployment type | Select the Deployment type. - Traditional MDM: Select this option to deploy iOS updates using legacy method. This is deprecated from iOS 26 and later. - Declarative Management - DDM: Select this option to deploy iOS updates starting from version 17 and later. |
Traditional MDM options

| Install Action | Select an action for the OS update from the following options: - Download and Install: Download or install the update, depending on the current state. It will check the device, and if the software is already downloaded, it will install it; otherwise, it will download the software. - Downloads and Install the software: It will download the software update and trigger the restart countdown notification. If the device is being actively used, the user can cancel the restart. - Download the software update and notify: It will download the software update and notify the user that it is available. - Download the software update and install it later: It will download the software update and install it at a later time. Users will be periodically notified. - Download/Install the software update then force a restart: It will perform the default action, downloading or installing the update, depending on the current state. Then it will force a restart if the update requires it. - Download Only: It will download the software update without installing it. |
Declarative Management - DDM options

| Target Date & Time | Specify the date and time at when the OS update should be installed on the target device(s). The specified time will follow the local timezone of the target device(s). |
| Details URL | Specify the URL containing details about the update. |
- Declarative Management (DDM) is supported on iOS 17 or later. OS Update jobs using DDM will fail on unsupported devices.
- Notifications are sent daily before the update deadline, hourly during the final 24 hours (bypassing Do Not Disturb), and every 30 & 10 minutes in the last hour.
The newly created job will be listed in the Jobs List section.
Go back to the Home tab and select the iOS/iPadOS device(s) or group(s).
Click Apply to launch the Apply Job/Profile To Device prompt.
Select the job under All Jobs/Profiles.
Click Apply in the Apply/Profile To Device prompt.
