OS Updates

The OS Updates job empowers administrators to remotely initiate the installation of the latest operating system version on enrolled tvOS devices. This functionality simplifies the procedure of upgrading devices to the latest version of the operating system available.


Steps to Create an OS Update Job

  1. Navigate to SureMDM Web Console > Jobs > New Job > tvOS > OS Updates.

  2. In the OS Updates Policy popup, configure the required options.


SettingDescription
Job NameEnter the name of the job.
Select Deployment typeSpecify the deployment type.
Traditional MDM - Select this option to deploy tvOS updates up to version 18.3 or earlier.
Declarative Management - DDM - Select this option to deploy tvOS updates starting from version 18.4 and later.
Enter Product KeyEnter the product key for the required OS version.
Applicable only if the Select Deployment type is set as Traditional MDM.
Product Key can be retrieved from the OS Updates dynamic job.
Enter OS VersionEnter the OS version to which devices will be upgraded.
Applicable only if the Select Deployment type is set as Declarative Management - DDM.
Install ActionSpecify the install action.
Applicable Install Action type for Traditional MDM
Download or Install - Performs download or installation depending on the current state. If the update is already downloaded, it proceeds with installation; otherwise, it downloads the update only.
Download Only - Download the software update without installing it.
Install already downloaded software update - Install a software update that has already been downloaded to the device.
Applicable Install Action type for Declarative Management - DDM
Download and Schedule to Install - DDM - Software will be downloaded and proceeded with installation on the scheduled time.
Target Date & TimeSpecify the date and time at when the OS update should be installed on the target device(s). The specified time will follow the local timezone of the target device(s).
Applicable only if the Select Deployment type is set as Declarative Management - DDM.
Details URLSpecify the URL containing details about the update.
Applicable only if the Select Deployment type is set as Declarative Management - DDM.

  1. Click Save.

  2. The newly created job will be listed in the Jobs List section if Save is clicked.

  3. Go back to the Home tab and select the tvOS device(s) or group(s).

  4. Click Apply to launch the Apply Job/Profile To Device prompt.

  5. In the Apply Job/Profile To Device prompt, select the job and click Apply.

  6. As an alternative, the Save & Apply option allows you to select the required device or device group(s) and deploy the configuration within the same interface.
