Configure Application Policy Profile
The Application Policy profile allows administrators to remotely install and set up applications on the enrolled devices. This functionality simplifies the deployment process, enabling administrators to efficiently manage app distribution and configuration across a fleet of devices.
- Supported OS Version: iOS 5.0 and iPadOS 5.0 or later
- Supported Enrollment Types:
- Device Enrollment and Automated Device Enrollment
- User Enrollment
- Shared iPad Enrollment
To install and configure an application remotely on the enrolled device(s), follow these steps:
Navigate to SureMDM Web Console > Profiles > iOS/iPadOS > Add > Select Enrollment Type > Application Policy & Configuration > Application Policy > Configure.
Enter a Profile Name.
Select the required App Category from the Add App prompt:

| All | Displays all available applications regardless of their type or category. |
| Enterprise Apps | Filters and displays only applications packaged in the .ipa format. |
| VPP Apps | Filters and displays only applications associated with Apple's VPP program. - Latest available version of the application, as listed on the App Store, will be installed on the device. |
| Apple App Store | Filters and displays only applications associated with Apple's App Store. |
| Manifest Link | Filters and displays only applications added via manifest links. |
| Web Apps | Filters and displays only web applications. |
- Post selecting the App Category, select the desired application using App Name dropdown.
When you select the app category type, the following additional options will be displayed:

| App Name | Select the app. Apps will be dynamically populated based on the chosen App Type. |
| Select VPP Token | Select the VPP token to list the associated applications in it. Applicable only if VPP Apps is selected as App Category. |
| Auto Update | Enables the app to automatically update whenever a new version becomes available. Applicable only for VPP Apps & Third Party Apps. |
| Auto Install | When enabled, the application will be automatically installed without the user's intervention. |
| Install Using VPP | Enable this option to install app as VPP app with appropriate VPP license. In case of license unavailability, the app installation will fail. pplicable only if VPP Apps is selected as App Category. |
| Enable 5G Network Slicing | Enabling this setting allows individual managed apps to be assigned to a network slice which may provide specific network capabilities and characteristics to optimise the app experience. Unsupported when using VPN. Available in iOS 17 and later. - Select: Choose DNN or App Category. - Based on the selection provide either DNN or App Category value |
| Include in SureMDM App Store | Check this option to include the application in the SureMDM App Store. |
| Featured App | When checked, this application will be listed in the Featured Apps section on the SureMDM App Store client. |
| Allow Removable | If disabled, users will be unable to uninstall the app. Available in iOS 14 and later. |
Click Add.
The application will be listed in the Application Policy section.
Select the application from the Application Policy section, select the app and click Config to configure the application.
In the Application Configuration prompt, click Add and enter the below details:
- Key
- Type
- Value
Click Add > Save.
The newly created profile will be listed in the Profiles section.
Go back to the Home tab and select the iOS/iPadOS device(s) or group(s).
Click Apply to launch the Apply Job/Profile To Device prompt.
Select the profile under All Jobs/Profiles.
Click Apply in the Apply/Profile To Device prompt.
