3. Configuring SureMDM Nix Agent

SureMDM Nix Agent Settings        


On SureMDM Nix Agent Home Screen, there are two options:


      - Settings - Tap on it to configure Nix Agent Settings


      - Mailbox - Tap on it to send or read mails from the Administrator



Enable Nix Service


Tap on this option to enable or disable Nix Service.


Note: This option has to be disabled to make any changes in the Nix Agent Settings.


Change Device Name


Tap on this option to change the name of the device. This name will reflect as the device name in SureMDM Web Console's Device List section. If enrolled devices are to be automatically named in a certain way, Advance Settings offers options to create rules for device naming.


Change Device Name gives following two options:


     - Set Device Name Manually


     - Use MAC Address


Account ID


Tap on this option to change the Account ID.


Account ID is the identification number for your SureMDM account.


Change Password


Tap on this option to change the password to access Nix Agent's settings.


Note: Nix Agent password has no restrictions on the format.


Server Path


Tap on this option to change Server Path. The server path - suremdm.42gears.com will remain the same for all SaaS accounts.  


Device ID


This is the ID which is given by SureMDM Server to identify the device.


If this ID is cleared, Nix will automatically stop working on the device and a different ID is automatically generated and assigned if the Nix Service is resumed again.


Enable Admin


Tap on this option to enable administrator for the device. Once you enable Enable Admin option, the administrator will get following privileges on the device:


     - Remotely Erase Data from the device


     - Change Screen Lock Password


     - Set Password Rules


     - Monitor Screen Unlock attempts


     - Lock Screen


     - Disable Camera


Use https


Tap on this option to enable use of https for secured connection.


Change Polling Mechanism


In Polling Mechanism, the processor periodically checks each of its input and output devices to see if any of them have a request that it needs to handle.


To change the Polling Mechanism, tap on Change Polling Mechanism and select from following options:


     - Automatic


     - Advance Polling


     - Normal Polling


Application Lock PIN


You can use SureMDM Web Console to password protect the access to installed applications on the device.


Application Lock PIN option gives you the option to change the Lock PIN.


Mailbox


Tap to enable the mailbox option on the SureMDM Nix Home Screen.


Agent Version


Agent Version option displays the version of SureMDM Nix Agent installed.


Uninstall SureMDM Nix


Tap on this option to uninstall SureMDM Nix Agent from the device.
