Configure Password Policy Profile (Android Management)

The Android Management platform empowers administrators to define and implement robust password policies for enrolled devices. These policies offer advanced configuration options for both the device itself and applications within the container, granting administrators granular control over password requirements and security settings.

To create a password policy profile and deploy it to the device(s), follow these steps:

1. Navigate to SureMDM Web Console > Profiles > Android > Add > Password Policy > Configure.

2. Enter a Profile Name.

3. In the Password Policy screen, the settings available on selecting Profile Type are given below:

Device Minimum Letters	Set Minimum Password Length for device. The maximum password length allowed is 17.
Device Minimum Lowercase	The minimum number of lowercase letters that must be used when creating a password.	yes		yes

Device Minimum Numeric	Minimum number of numeric characters (0-9) required in the device password.	yes		yes

Device Maximum Failed Attempts	Number of attempts allowed before all the data on the device will be erased. The maximum number of failed attempts is 6.	yes		yes
Device Maximum Password Age (In hours)	Select a value (in days). After the specified days, the password has to be changed. A password can have a maximum age of 8760 hours.	yes		yes
Device Enforce Password History	Number of times the previously created password that cannot be selected. The maximum number of password histories is 10.	yes		yes
Device Maximum Time to Lock (In seconds)	Period of inactivity before the devices’ screen locks automatically. Devices can be locked for a maximum of 7200 seconds.	yes		yes
Require Password Unlock	Select an option from the following that specifies a time after the device or work profile is unlocked. Once the specified time elapses, only strong authentication methods (ex: password/PIN/Pattern) can be used to unlock the device or work profile.			yes

Work Profile Minimum password requirements are identical to the corresponding Device Minimum settings and are enforced only within the work profile.

The newly created profile will be listed in the Profiles section .

4. Go back to the Home tab and select the Android device(s) or group(s).

5. Click Apply to launch the Apply Job/Profile To Device prompt.

6. In the Apply Job/Profile To Device prompt, select the created profile and click Apply.
