Enrolling a WearOS Device via the Companion App

The Companion application simplifies the enrollment process for WearOS devices in the SureMDM Console. With the Companion app on an Android device, users can seamlessly complete enrollment with ease.

Follow these steps to enroll a WearOS device using the Companion app:

The WearOS and the Android device with the companion app installed should be connected to the same WiFi network.

Install the Companion App​

  1. Please reach out to techsupport@42gears.com for the companion app install file.

  2. Open the Companion app and grant the necessary permissions.

Choose Enrollment Method​

You can currently enroll the WearOS device manually

  • Setup Nix Manually – Manually enter enrollment details.

Manual Setup​

When you select Setup Nix Manually, enter the following details:

  • Direct APK Link – Provide the APK link for the SureMDM Agent app.

The supported SureMDM Agent version is v1.57.01 and above.

  • Server ID – Enter the SureMDM account’s server ID.

  • Server Path – Provide the server path of the SureMDM account.

  • Device Name – Choose between:

    • Use System Generated Name
    • Enter Device Name Manually

Download and Pair the WearOS Device​

  1. Click Start Download to install the SureMDM Agent for WearOS.

  2. Pair the WearOS device with the Android device:

    • On the WearOS device, enable Wireless Debugging and select Pair a new device.
    • In the Companion app, tap Pair (top right corner).
    • Enter the IP address, Pairing Code, and Port Number displayed on the WearOS device.
    • Click Pair to complete the pairing process.

Connect and Install SureMDM Agent​

  1. In the Companion app, tap Connect and enter the port number of the WearOS device.
  2. Once connected, click Install Nix to install the SureMDM Agent application on the WearOS device.

Set Device Owner & Enroll​

  1. Tap Set Device Owner to designate the SureMDM Agent as the device owner.
  2. Click Enroll Device.
  3. Grant the Query All Apps permission when prompted and tap Continue.

The device is now successfully enrolled in the SureMDM Console.
