Approve and Apply Patches to Linux Devices
Follow these steps to directly select patches from the table list, Approve them, and apply them to the required Linux devices:
On the SureMDM Web Console, navigate to OS Updates > Scroll down to view the table list.
Select the Patches from the table list.
Click Install to apply the patches to all devices.
The Install Configuration dialog appears, allowing administrators to define how updates are delivered, installed, and how device restarts are handled.
Install Type
Select one of the following installation options:

| Notify the user before downloading | Users are notified before updates are downloaded and installed. Users can defer the download and installation within administrator-defined limits. |
| Notify the user before installing | Updates are downloaded automatically, but users are notified before installation begins. Users can defer installation within administrator-defined limits. |
| Auto Install; restart outside active hours | Updates are installed automatically. Device restart occurs outside the configured active hours whenever possible. |
| Auto Install and Restart at a scheduled time | Updates are installed and the device is restarted according to a configured schedule. |
| Auto Install and restart Immediately | Updates are downloaded and installed immediately, followed by an automatic restart. |
Notify the user before downloading
Use this option when users should be informed before update download and installation begins.

| User can defer download and installation by | Defines how long the user can postpone the download and installation each time they choose to delay. After this duration, the user will be prompted again. |
| Force Install updates after | Specifies the maximum days of deferrals allowed. Once the user postpones the update this many days, the system will automatically download and install the update without further user input. |
Notify the User Before Installing
Use this option when updates should be downloaded automatically but notify user before installing.

| User can defer installation by | Defines how long the user can postpone installation after the update has already been downloaded. The user will be prompted again after this duration. |
| Force Install updates after | Specifies the maximum number of installation postponements allowed. After the limit is reached, the system will proceed with installation automatically. |
Auto Install; Restart Outside Active Hours
Use this option to install updates automatically while minimizing disruption during business hours.

| Active Hours Start Time | Specifies the start of the active hours period during which update should not install automatically or restart the device for updates. |
| Active Hours End Time | Specifies the end of the active hours period during which update should not install automatically or restart the device for updates. |
| User can defer restart by | Specifies how many days the user can postpone the restart. After this limit is reached, the device will restart automatically to complete the update. |
| Force Install and Restart after | Specifies the maximum number of installation postponements allowed. After the limit is reached, the system will proceed with installation automatically. |
Auto Install and Restart at a Scheduled Time
Use this option to perform update installation and restart during a predefined maintenance window.

| Specify the Time of Day to Install Updates | Defines the exact time when the system will attempt to install updates and restart the device. |
| Specify the Day(s) of the Week to Install Updates | Defines the days when the scheduled update should run. |
| User can defer restart by | Specifies how many days the user can postpone the restart. After this limit is reached, the device will restart automatically to complete the update. |
| Force Install and Restart after | Specifies the maximum number of installation postponements allowed. After the limit is reached, the system will proceed with installation automatically and restart the device. |
Auto Install and Restart Immediately
Use this option when updates must be installed and applied without delay.

The following installation types are supported on Linux devices running SureMDM Agent version 7.19.1 or later.
- Notify the User Before Downloading
- Notify the User Before Installing
- Auto Install; Restart Outside Active Hours
- Auto Install and Restart at a Scheduled Time
The Auto Install and Restart Immediately option is supported on Linux devices running SureMDM Agent version 7.13.7 or later.
For the Restart Warning Duration setting under Auto Install and Restart Immediately, Linux devices must be running SureMDM Agent version 7.19.1 or later.
Important: Device Restart Behavior
Device restart will occur when enforced by the installed update(s). Updates that do not require a reboot will not trigger a device restart, irrespective of the selected installation and restart option.
