Device Actions

Device Actions include essential device management actions such as Reboot, Shut Down, Wipe Device, Lost Mode, and Clear Password.

Steps to Create a Device Actions Job

To create a Device Actions job and deploy it to the enrolled device(s) or group(s) remotely, follow these steps:

  1. Navigate to SureMDM Web Console > Jobs > New Job > iOS/iPadOS > Device Actions.

  2. In the Device Actions prompt, enter a Job Name and select the Action Type.

Action Types and Descriptions

Action TypeDescription
Reboot
Performs an immediate reboot on the device.
Note: Supported only on Supervised devices with iOS 10.3 and above.
Shut Down
Performs an immediate shut down on the device.
Note: Supported only on Supervised devices with iOS 10.3 and above.
Wipe Device
Erases devices, including locked ones, without warning the user.
Device Wipe Actions: - Partial Wipe: Deletes all managed apps, data, and profiles. Any apps installed through SureMDM will also be removed.
- Full Wipe: Completely wipes the device. This includes all personal files, photos, music, movies, managed apps, data, and profiles. (Unsupported on Apple User Enrollment enrolled devices.)
- Preserve Data Plan [If Full Wipe is selected]: Ensures that the device's data plan remains intact even after a Full Wipe. (Available from iOS 11 and later.)
- Disallow Proximity Setup [If Full Wipe is selected]: Prevents the device from initiating proximity-based setup following a Full Wipe. (Available from iOS 11.3 and later.)
- Re-enroll to SureMDM after Wipe[If Full Wipe is selected]: Enables automatic re-enrollment into SureMDM after the wipe operation. (Available from iOS 17 and later. Unsupported on Apple User Enrollment and ADE-enrolled devices.)
Lost Mode
Performs remote lock on enrolled devices upon detection of loss or damage.
- Lost Mode Action: Specify the Lost Mode Action
- Enable Lost Mode: Locks the device.
- Disable Lost Mode: Unlocks the device.
- Message: Custom message displayed on the screen.
- Phone Number: Phone number (with country code) displayed on the screen.
- Footer: Custom footer message.
- Email Alerts: Allows multiple email addresses (comma-separated). Example: test@test.com, test12@test.com
- Play Lost Mode Sound: Plays a continuous alert sound until Lost Mode is disabled or the user stops the sound on the device.
Clear PasswordClears the existing passcode on the device.
  1. The newly created job will be listed in the Jobs List section.

  2. Go back to the Home tab and select the iOS/iPadOS device(s) or group(s).

  3. Click Apply to launch the Apply Job/Profile To Device prompt.

  4. In the Apply Job/Profile To Device prompt, select the job and click Apply.
