Intune App Management Integration

Overview​

The Intune App Management Integration feature in SureMDM enables seamless integration with Microsoft Intune for app lifecycle management. With this feature, administrators can deploy, configure, and update applications in accordance with their organization’s Intune policies directly from the SureMDM console.

This feature is especially useful for organizations that enroll devices in Microsoft Intune but want to use SureMDM to add and manage applications within the Intune console and on enrolled devices.

The integration automates Intune’s conversion of application packages (.exe, .msi, or other formats) into Win32 app format (.intunewin), and also supports auto-update capabilities. When enabled, apps updated in the SureMDM repository are automatically deployed to Intune-managed devices.

Availability​

  • This feature is available on-demand only. Customers must contact the 42Gears Sales Team to request activation.
  • Once enabled, the feature is accessible under:
    Account Settings > Enterprise Integrations > Entra Integrations > Protection/Integration > Intune App Management Integration

Prerequisites​

  • A valid Microsoft Intune subscription.
  • Windows devices must be enrolled in Intune.
  • Intune App Management Integration enabled by the 42Gears Sales Team.

Workflow​

Step 1: Add Apps from SureMDM AppStore​

  1. Navigate to SureMDM Console > AppStore > Windows > Add Apps > Third Party Apps.
  2. Select the desired app(s) to add them into the SureMDM AppStore.

Step 2: Deploy Apps to Intune​

  1. Once an app is added, click on the three dots (⋮) menu against the app.
  2. Select Deploy to Intune.
  3. Configure the required Intune app deployment settings. SureMDM console provides all the standard settings that Intune offers for Win32 app deployments.
  4. Select Save to publish the app to the Intune console for deployment on enrolled devices.

Step 3: Auto-Update or On-Demand Updates​

  • Auto-Update Enabled:

    • Whenever new versions of apps become available in the SureMDM repository, they are automatically deployed to the Intune console using the existing device assignments.

  • Auto-Update Disabled:

    • When new versions are available, administrators must manually open the app in the SureMDM AppStore, select the desired version, and deploy it to Intune.
