SureMDM Jobs


Jobs means tasks that you can create using SureMDM Web Console which can be remotely applied on the enrolled devices. These jobs can be remote installation, remote control, send messages, update security policies and more. All the created jobs are saved under Job List and can be either applied right away or can be scheduled to be applied on the selected jobs on a particular date and time.


Note: Jobs can be successfully applied to online devices however, if the devices are offline, the applied jobs would be applied once the devices come online.



There are following types of jobs available on SureMDM Web Console:



1. Install Program


Use this job to remotely install or upgrade an application on an enrolled device.  This job can also be used to copy and save a file on the device.


Note: For silent installation of application, the enrolled device has to be either platform signed for SureMDM Nix Agent, rooted or Samsung KNOX enabled.


To install application(s) on device remotely using SureMDM, follow below mentioned procedure:


1. On SureMDM Web Console, click on Jobs on Utility Panel


2. On Jobs screen, click on New Job and select the Operating System from the given options


3. On Select Job Type screen, select Install Program


4. On Configure Job screen, give a name to the job and click on Add


5. On Install Job Properties prompt, enter following details:


      - File Path/URL - Browse and select the file from the Admin system or specify the link where the file is hosted


      - Device Path - Location on the device where the file is to be saved


      - Install After Copy - Check this option if the file not only needs to be copied but also installed on the device


      - Use Authentication - If you have specified a URL in File Path/URL field and access file is password protected, check this option to enter User ID and Password


6. Follow the same process to add more files for copy/installation. Use the Delete, Modify, Move Up and Move Down to edit or align the list.


7. Once all details specified, click on OK to complete


8. Go back to Home and select the device(s) or group(s) from Device List


9. Click on Apply to launch the Apply Job prompt


10.On Apply Job prompt, select the job and click on OK


Tip: You can use Logs section to track the progress of the applied job.

      You can also use this option to copy files like images, videos, PDF files and more



2. Send Text Message


Use this job to send messages to device(s) or broadcast messages.


To compose a message job, follow below mentioned procedure:


1. On SureMDM Web Console, click on Jobs on Utility Panel


2. On Jobs screen, click on New Job and select the Operating System from the given options


3. On Select Job Type screen, select Send Text Message


4. On Type Message Here prompt, enter following details:


      - Job Name - Name to the Job


      - Subject - Subject for the message


      - Body - Message


      - Get Read Notification - Check this option for a read receipt for the message


      - Force Read Message - Check this option to force read the device users to read the message. This option once checked, a message prompt would appear with the message on the device user's screen


5. Click on OK to complete



3. Run Script


Use this job to create a customized run script to be executed on the enrolled devices.


To run customized script remotely in a device using Jobs option, follow below mentioned steps:


1. On SureMDM Web Console, click on Jobs on Utility Panel


2. On Jobs screen, click on New Job and select the Operating System from the given options


3. On Select Job Type screen, select Run Script


4. On Run Script prompt, give a name to the job and compose the script


5. Click on OK to complete



4. Remote Data Wipe


Use this feature to remotely wipe all the data from the device. This feature is very helpful if the device is lost or stolen.


To create a job to remotely wipe data from an enrolled device, follow below mentioned procedure:


1. On SureMDM Web Console, click on Jobs on Utility Panel


2. On Jobs screen, click on New Job and select the Operating System from the given options


3. On Select Job Type screen, select Remote Data Wipe


4. On Wipe Job Properties prompt, give a name to the job and check Wipe All Data


5. Click on OK to complete



5. Lock Mobile Device


Use this feature to remotely lock the device or change the existing device password. This feature is very helpful if the device is lost or stolen.


To create a job to remotely lock an enrolled device or change the existing device password, follow below mentioned procedure:


1. On SureMDM Web Console, click on Jobs on Utility Panel


2. On Jobs screen, click on New Job and select the Operating System from the given options


3. On Select Job Type screen, select Lock Mobile Device


4. On Lock Job Properties prompt, give a name to the job and select from the following options:


      - Lock the device


      - Change password


Note: Change password would work only if a password is configured and enabled for Lock Mobile Device job to work.

 

5. Click on OK to complete



6. Nix Agent Settings


Use this feature to remotely configure or update SureMDM Nix Agent. This job allows configuring follow settings:


       - Enable time synchronization with server


       - Enable periodic update of device info


       - Enable Nix Password


       - Connection Type


       - Enable Schedule Reboot



7. Composite Job


Use this feature to compose a job with multiple jobs. This job allows admins to create a single job which can have multiple jobs for execution.


To create a composite job, follow below mentioned procedure:

1. On SureMDM Web Console, click on Jobs on Utility Panel


2. On Jobs screen, click on New Job and select the Operating System from the given options


3. On Select Job Type screen, select Composite Job


4. On Configure Job screen, give a name to the job and click on Add


5. On Select job(s) to add prompt, select the jobs (use Control key to select multiple jobs)


6. Once back on Configure Job screen, arrange the sequence of jobs by using Move Up and Move Down buttons


7. Click on OK to complete



8. Notification Policy


SureMDM allows creation of notification policies for enrolled devices. Once this job applied to the enrolled device, automatic notifications will be sent whenever the device goes below or beyond set threshold.


Notification Policy allows creating of notifications for following:


       - whenever an enrolled device’s battery power is lower than recommended percentage


       - whenever an enrolled device is not connected to a network for a specified period of time


       - whenever an enrolled device utilizes mobile data above set threshold


       - whenever an enrolled device comes online after being offline


       - whenever the enrolled device's sim card is changed


       - whenever the enrolled device is rooted



9. SureLock Settings


Use this feature to create jobs to make changes in SureLock Settings.



10. SureFox Settings


Use this feature to create jobs to make changes in SureFox Settings.



11. SureVideo Settings


Use this feature to create jobs to make changes in SureVideo Settings.



12. Security Policy


Use this feature to apply security policies on enrolled devices. There are two kinds of security policies to choose from:


       1. Password Policy:

           - Minimum Password Length


           - Password Strength


           - Time lapse before device auto-locks


           - Maximum failed password attempts before device wipes


       2. Peripheral Settings:


           - Bluetooth


           - WiFi


           - Camera


           - Mobile


           - GPS



13. Application Settings


Use this feature to create jobs with following tasks:


           - Lock applications with a password


           - Run at startup


           - Uninstall applications


           - Clear data of an application



14. WiFi Configuration Settings


Use this feature to configure WiFi and remotely apply to enrolled devices.


To create a WiFi configuration job, follow below mentioned procedure:


1. On SureMDM Web Console, click on Jobs on Utility Panel


2. On Jobs screen, click on New Job and select the Operating System from the given options


3. On Select Job Type screen, select WiFi Configuration Settings


4. On WiFi Configuration Settings screen, click on Add


5. On WiFi Configuration - Add Config prompt, enter following details:


           - SSID


           - Password


           - Security


           - Auto Connect


           - Create portable WiFi hotspot with these settings


7. Click on OK to complete



15. Location Tracking


Location tracking has to be enabled on the enrolled device for the admin to remotely track and locate the device.


To remotely enable location tracking on an enrolled, follow below mentioned procedure:


1. On SureMDM Web Console, click on Jobs on Utility Panel


2. On Jobs screen, click on New Job and select the Operating System from the given options


3. On Select Job Type screen, select Location Tracking


4. On Location Tracking Settings prompt, name the job and check Enable Location Tracking option


5. Enter a value in minutes in Tracking Periodicity field


7. Click on OK to complete



16. Email Configuration Settings


Using SureMDM Web Console, admin can remotely configure an email account or delete a configured email account on enrolled devices.


To remotely configure email account on an enrolled, follow below mentioned procedure:


1. On SureMDM Web Console, click on Jobs on Utility Panel


2. On Jobs screen, click on New Job and select the Operating System from the given options


3. On Select Job Type screen, select Email Configuration Settings


4. On Email Configuration Settings prompt, click on Create Email Account tab and enter following details:


           - Job Name


           - Username


           - Password


           - Server Type


           - Incoming Server Address


           - Outgoing Server Address


           - Security Type


           - Incoming Port


           - Outgoing Port


           - Signature


5. Click on OK to complete


Note: This feature is currently available for Samsung KNOX devices only.



To remotely delete an email account from an enrolled, follow below mentioned procedure:


1. On SureMDM Web Console, click on Jobs on Utility Panel


2. On Jobs screen, click on New Job and select the Operating System from the given options


3. On Select Job Type screen, select Email Configuration Settings


4. OnEmail Configuration Settings prompt, click on Delete Email Account tab and enter following details:


           - Job Name


           - Username


           - Server Type


           - Incoming Server Address


5. Click on OK to complete
