Advanced Patching
The Advanced Patching section is a centralized platform for managing Windows software updates and patches at a detailed operational level. It provides administrators with a structured dashboard that offers clear visibility into deployed updates, discovered updates, and patches eligible for uninstallation. This section allows administrators to access detailed information for each update and take appropriate corrective actions when required. By consolidating advanced update monitoring and control into a single location, it enhances operational efficiency and simplifies update troubleshooting. The aim is to ensure Windows devices remain stable, compliant, and secure throughout the update lifecycle.
Advanced Patching is only offered to Premium and above tier customers.
Bandwidth and Storage Considerations
Due to the way Microsoft packages and distributes Windows updates, Advanced Patching may download multiple update files for a single selected update. Depending on the update, each file may be several GBs in size. As a result, a single update deployment may consume a significant amount of storage.
To optimize bandwidth utilization when deploying updates to multiple devices, 42Gears recommends configuring a Relay Server. For more information, see Relay Server.
