Assign Devices to SureMDM ADE Server in Apple Business Manager

Step 1: Open Device Inventory

1. Sign in to Apple Business Manager.

2. Navigate to Devices > Inventory.

3. Search and select the device that needs to be migrated.

Step 2: Assign Device Management Service

1. Click Assign Device Management.

2. Select the created ADE Server from the Device Management Service drop-down.

Step 3: Configure Enrollment Deadline (Optional)

Administrators can define an enrollment deadline to ensure devices migrate within a specified timeframe.

1. Click Add Deadline. This option will be accessible only if the selected device is running on OS version 26.0 or later. Else it will be grayed-out.

2. Specify the deadline for migration.

3. Click Continue.

If enrollment is not completed before the defined deadline, Apple may automatically enforce the migration process. This can result in a device restart on iPhone and iPad devices, or the display of a non-dismissible full-screen prompt on macOS, requiring the user to re-enroll the device into the new MDM solution.

Step 4: Confirm Assignment

1. Review the selected device management service and deadline configuration.

2. Click Confirm to proceed with the migration assignment.

3. After confirmation, Apple Business Manager begins updating the device assignment. Administrators can monitor progress from the Activity section.

After configuring the migration deadline, or to verify the configured deadline, search for the device. The migration deadline details will be displayed as shown below.

Activation Lock Considerations

During migration:

• Existing Activation Lock information from the previous MDM is removed.
• SureMDM can assume Activation Lock management after enrollment.

Migration Limitations

Keep the following considerations in mind:

• Migration to or from Apple Business Essentials is not supported.
• Devices manually enrolled through Apple Configurator must be beyond the 30-day provisional enrollment period.
• iOS devices must remain managed by their original ADE service to be eligible for migration.
• macOS devices can migrate even after re-enrollment if profile-based enrollment is used.
