Relay Server Configuration (Android)

The relay server will act as a local intermediate server used to cache files while downloading from the cloud and save it locally. Admins can remotely configure the relay server on the enrolled device(s). Whenever the user needs to download data, they don't need to download it from the cloud. They can access it on the relay server using a local LAN.

To remotely configure the relay server on the enrolled device(s), follow these steps:

1.  On the SureMDM Web Console, navigate to Jobs > New Job > Android > Relay Server Configuration.

2.  Configure the following settings and click Ok.

Settings

Description

Job Name

Enter a job name

Enable Relay Server

Enforce relay server configuration

Relay URL

Enter the relay server URL

Relay Username

Enter the user name of the relay server

Relay Password

Enter the Password of the relay server

Accept All Certificates

Select this option to automatically accept  the certificate (like SSL), if it is available

Allow Fallback to Cloud

Select this option to download the file from the cloud server when the user is unable to download it from the relay server

Relay Timeout

The device will try to connect to the relay server within the specified time. If it is unable to connect in that specified time then the device will not retry.

The newly created job will be listed in the Jobs List section.

3.  Go back to Home tab and select the Android device(s) or group(s).

4. Click Apply to launch the Apply Job/Profile To Device prompt.

5. In the Apply Job/Profile To Device prompt, select the job and click Apply.

Once the job is deployed to a device, the user can download a file from the relay server instead of downloading it from the cloud server.
