Enroll Android device using Gmail Account (with SureMDM Agent)
To enroll an Android device using a Gmail account,
1. Log into the SureMDM web console.
2. Navigate to Settings > Account Settings > Android Management > Android Enterprise Enrolment > Device Management by Android Management API > Enroll using your Gmail Account and click Enroll.
3. On the next page, login with a Gmail account.
Note: The Gmail account should not have used before for Android Management enrollment.
4. Complete the registration
5. Go to Enrollment tab > List View > Create QR Code.
6. On the Setup QR Code for Enrollment prompt,
a. Under the Enrollment Type option,
- Name the QR code.
- Select Android platform.
- Select enrollment type as Android Enterprise Enrollment.
b. Under Configure options,
- Select Group - Select a Group to which the device will be enrolled
- Expiry Duration - Specify the duration for QR code validity
- One Time Only - Specify the generated QR code will be used only once
- Allow Personal Usage - Specify if personal usage to be allowed on the provisioned device:
For Company-owned devices:
- When personal usage is enabled, it allows the user to set up a work profile on the device.
- When personal usage is disabled, it requires the user to provision the device as a fully managed device.
For Personally-Owned devices:
- When personal usage is enabled, allows the user to set up a work profile on the device.
- When personal usage is disabled, this will prevent the device from provisioning. Personal usage cannot be disabled on a personally-owned device.
c. Under the Save QR code option, click Download/Print/Full View to download or print or full view the QR code.
d. Click Save.
Newly created QR code will be listed under the QR Code Enrollment section.
Once done, the device can be enrolled in one of the following modes:
- Dedicated Device mode (COSU)
- Work Profile mode (BYOD)
Dedicated Device mode (COSU)
To enroll a device in Dedicated Devices mode,
1. Unbox the new device and switch it on or factory reset a used device.
2. When a new device or factory reset device is powered on, you should tap 6 times on the language screen to launch the QR code reader, and scan the QR code generated.
Work Profile Mode (BYOD)
To enroll a device in Work Profile mode,
1. Go to Device’s Settings > Google > Set up & restore > Set up your work profile >Next.
Now, the device is ready for scanning.
2. Scan the QR code that appears on the screen using the device.
A new app by the name Android Device Policy will appear on the device. When policies are created through Profiles in the SureMDM Web Console and linked to a device, Android Device Policy will automatically enforce these policy settings on the device.
On successful scanning, the device will get directly enrolled in SureMDM Web Console. The devices enrolled in Work Profile mode will be displayed in the Device Information panel for Android Management as Profile Owner.
