Configure Apps and Extensions Policy

This allows administrators to remotely configure Apps and Extensions policies and apply them to the enrolled devices.

To configure the Apps and Extensions Policy remotely on an enrolled device, follow these steps:

1. Navigate to SureMDM Web Console > Profiles > ChromeOS > Add > Apps and Extensions Policy > Configure.

2. Enter a Profile Name.

3. Configure Apps and Extensions Policy settings and click Save.

Apps and Extensions Policy

  • Allowed types of apps and extensions: Specifies which types of apps and extensions are blocked from being installed by the device user.
  • App and extension install sources: Specifies a list of sources from which the device user can directly install extensions, apps, and themes on Chrome browser.
  • Allow insecure extension packaging: Allows the installation of extensions packaged in an insecure manner.
  • External extensions: Allows the installation of extensions from outside the Chrome Web Store.
  • Permissions and URLs: Blocks extensions based on their required permissions.
  • Chrome Web Store app icon: Toggles the presence of the Chrome Web Store app link in the new tab page and app launcher of Chrome Browser.
  • Chrome Web Store permissions: Enables the device user to publish private apps restricted to the domain on the public Chrome Web Store.
  • Android reporting for users and devices: Enables monitoring and reporting of Android app installations enforced by policy.

The newly created profile will be listed in the Profiles section.

4. Go back to the Home tab and select the required group(s).

5. Click Apply to launch Apply Job/Profile To Device prompt.

6. In the Apply Job/Profile To Device prompt, select the created policy and click Apply.

Note: Unlike other platforms, the ChromeOS policy cannot be assigned to individual devices; it can only be assigned to the ChromeOS group.
